NEEF’s National Public Lands Day is the country’s largest one-day volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, this celebration brings together thousands of volunteers to help restore and improve public lands across the country. The NPLD is also a “Free day“- Entrance fees are waived in national parks and other public lands. This year’s NPLD will take place on Saturday 25 September 2021.

Taking into account that social distancing requirements may still be in place in some parts of the country in September, NEEF will once again be supporting in-person and virtual NPLD events as part of its theme “More Ways to Connect with Nature “.

“While virtual events have been a necessity for NPLD site managers over the past year or so, they have also proven to be an invaluable tool for connecting a wider and more diverse range of people to the outdoors,” said Tony richardson, director of public land engagement at NEEF. “This year, our goal is to showcase this diversity.
