Victoria group honored for environmental education by Nature Canada – Victoria News

A collection of local organizations working together as Greater Victoria NatureHood have won a national conservation award for their efforts as stewards of the environment.

Each year, Nature Canada recognizes exemplary organizations and individuals with awards for their hard work and contributions to the shared protection and restoration of nature, through their dedication to positive solutions for nature within their communities.

Greater Victoria NatureHood has been named the recipient of the Conservation Partner of the Year award for 2021.

“This creative and united community is a network of many organizations that are teaming up to connect residents and visitors to Victoria with the nature to be found in the region,” Nature Canada said in a statement last week. “Through their work, they connect Canadians with nature and promote positive values ​​for nature.

The Great Victoria NatureHood was recognized in part for running an online nature program aimed at educating children about the importance of nature and the environment. The organization also recently received a Hallmark Heritage Society Communications Award for its work commemorating renowned bird artist Fenwick Lansdowne.
